Mary has a wealth of experience in working health care companies to develop winning strategies for sales and marketing – as well as her specialty in strategic communications. She has developed tools to effectively convey the value of clients’ products in an increasingly competitive landscape and to achieve stronger brand recognition.
Plock’s has provided strategic counsel to leading medical technology and health care firms and organizations, including GE Healthcare, Kodak, Tenet Healthcare, National Medical Enterprises, ManorCare, and the Medical Rehabilitation Education Foundation.
She bolstered the medical device and diagnostics industry’s efforts when serving as vice president of Public Affairs at AdvaMed (the Advanced Medical Technology Association), the global trade association representing the medical device industry. At AdvaMed, Plock managed national campaigns that communicated the economic and clinical value of technologies to stakeholders, including members of Congress, other policy makers, payers and the media. In addition, she developed the coalition of medical imaging companies to advance recognition of the value of medical imaging and originated the industry’s Website HYPERLINK “https://www.medicalimaging.org” www.medicalimaging.org for NEMA (Association of Electrical and Medical Imaging Equipment Manufacturers). She is equally at home in the halls of Congress and departments of the federal government as well as in corporate headquarters.
Her diverse expertise includes developing and managing strategic communications activities for companies across a broad spectrum that have resulted in placements in the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, People, and a host of network news programs around the country. She has deep experience in diverse health care sectors including: heart disease, oncology, women’s health, ophthalmology and orthopedics. She has worked for firms providing services in acute care, medical rehabilitation, psychiatric services, specialized cancer services, nursing homes and assisted living. Plock is highly skilled in designing strategies that integrate the underlying science within the context of business, public policy and the constraints of health care financing.
Plock has served as a senior vice president at FischerHealth, a partner with the boutique public affairs firm Polidais, a vice president with Porter Novelli, and held senior positions with national providers of health services, including National Medical Enterprises, Rehab Services Corporation, and ManorCare. Mary earned her B.A. degree in journalism from the University of Southern California and holds an M.B.A. from Georgetown University.
